Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 9, 2025
The short version
Yapzy does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. We have no servers, no databases, and no analytics. Everything stays in your browser.
What Yapzy stores
All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. This includes:
- Your API key for your chosen AI provider
- Your selected AI model and provider
- Your language preference
- Your optional bio/context (used to personalize replies)
- A reply counter (to track free tier usage)
- Your license key (if you upgrade to Pro)
This data never leaves your browser except as described below. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.
What leaves your browser
Yapzy makes two types of external requests:
1. AI reply generation
When you generate a reply, the text of the post you're replying to and your selected tone are sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) using your own API key. Yapzy does not proxy, intercept, or store these requests. The data handling is governed by your AI provider's privacy policy.
2. License validation (Pro users only)
If you have a Pro license key, Yapzy validates it with Polar.sh (our payment provider) every 7 days. Only your license key is sent. No personal data, usage data, or browsing data is transmitted.
What Yapzy does NOT do
- We do not collect analytics or telemetry
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not store or log your generated replies
- We do not sell or share any data
- We do not use cookies
- We do not have a backend server
Permissions
Yapzy requests the following Chrome permissions:
- Host permissions (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram) — to inject the reply button into comment boxes and read the post you're replying to
- Storage — to save your settings and API key locally
- Scripting — to add the Yapzy button to social media pages
- Notifications — to display error messages if something goes wrong
Third-party services
Yapzy integrates with AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, and others) and Polar.sh for license management. Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Yapzy sends the minimum data required for each service to function.
Disclaimer
Yapzy is not responsible for how third-party AI providers handle the data sent to them via your API key. By using Yapzy, you acknowledge that AI-generated content is sent to and processed by your chosen provider under their terms. We are not liable for any data processing, storage, or breaches by these third-party services.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For questions, contact support@yapzy.com.
