Privacy Policy

The short version

The Yapzy Chrome extension itself is local-first. It runs entirely in your browser — there is no Yapzy server, no Yapzy database, no extension telemetry, and your API key never leaves your machine to anything other than the AI provider you chose. Your replies are not logged anywhere by us.

This marketing website (getyapzy.com) is separate. Like most software-product sites, it uses standard third-party analytics so we can see which pages convert. Those tools are listed below in full, with what each one collects and how to block them.

What Yapzy stores

All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. This includes:

  • Your API key for your chosen AI provider
  • Your selected AI model and provider
  • Your language preference
  • Your optional bio/context (used to personalize replies)
  • A reply counter (to track free tier usage)
  • Your license key (if you upgrade to Pro)

This data never leaves your browser except as described below. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

What leaves your browser

Yapzy makes two types of external requests:

1. AI reply generation

When you generate a reply, the text of the post you're replying to and your selected tone are sent directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) using your own API key. Yapzy does not proxy, intercept, or store these requests. The data handling is governed by your AI provider's privacy policy.

2. License validation (Pro users only)

If you have a Pro license key, Yapzy validates it with Polar.sh (our payment provider) every 7 days. Only your license key is sent. No personal data, usage data, or browsing data is transmitted.

What the Yapzy extension does NOT do

  • The extension does not phone home to any Yapzy server (there isn't one)
  • The extension does not send telemetry, page-view pings, or usage analytics
  • The extension does not track your browsing history
  • The extension does not store or log your generated replies anywhere outside your own browser
  • We do not sell or share any data

These statements describe the extension only. For what the marketing site (getyapzy.com) uses, see the next section.

Third-party services on this website

The marketing site you're reading right now uses three third-party services. None of these run inside the Yapzy extension — the extension stays local-first as described above. We use these tools on the website to keep the site accountable: chat so you can reach us, analytics so we know what people read, and session recordings so we can fix broken pages.

  • Tawk.to — live chat. Loads from embed.tawk.to. Sets cookies and records your IP, browser user-agent, page URL, and (if you open a chat) the chat content. Governed by Tawk's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 — page-view and event analytics. Loads from googletagmanager.com with property ID G-D6K72C8NPH. Sets cookies and records page URLs, referrer, device category, approximate geographic region (derived from IP; GA4 truncates and discards full IP by default), and standard events. Used to understand which pages bring readers in and which lose them. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session replay and heatmaps. Loads from clarity.ms. Records anonymous session recordings (mouse movement, clicks, scroll position) and aggregates them into heatmaps. Clarity masks form inputs by default; it doesn't see anything you type. Sets cookies and assigns a per-visit ID. Governed by Microsoft's privacy statement.

If you don't want any of this running:use an ad-blocker (uBlock Origin blocks all three out of the box), turn on Brave's built-in tracker shield, or disable JavaScript — every page on this site is statically rendered and reads fine without it.

What these tools never see: anything inside the Yapzy extension. They run only on the public getyapzy.com pages; they have no way to reach into your extension settings, your API key, or the replies you generate.

Permissions

Yapzy requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • Storage — to save your settings and API key locally
  • Scripting — to add the Yapzy button to social media pages
  • Host access to social platforms(Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Reddit, TikTok) — to inject the reply button into comment boxes and read the post you're replying to
  • Host access to AI providers(OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Groq, Together, Mistral, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, xAI, Fireworks, Perplexity, DeepInfra) — to send reply-generation requests directly from your browser using your own API key
  • Host access to Polar.sh(api.polar.sh, buy.polar.sh) — to validate Pro license keys and process one-time purchases
  • Host access to raw.githubusercontent.com— to fetch the latest list of supported AI models without shipping a new extension update

Third-party services

Yapzy integrates with AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, and others) and Polar.sh for license management. Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Yapzy sends the minimum data required for each service to function.

Disclaimer

Yapzy is not responsible for how third-party AI providers handle the data sent to them via your API key. By using Yapzy, you acknowledge that AI-generated content is sent to and processed by your chosen provider under their terms. We are not liable for any data processing, storage, or breaches by these third-party services.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For questions, contact support@yapzy.com.
